I have been a professor in the Department of Biology at University of Waterloo for over 25 years, following 5 years on faculty at McGill. I served a term as Canadian Society of Microbiologists president, and am currently Director of Waterloo Centre for Microbial Research, Executive Director of LiftOff Black Entrepreneurship Program, and founder of the companies Metagenom Bio Life Science, Earth Microbial and Healthy Hydroponics InnoTech. My research work is directed at microbial systems within the circular bioeconomy concept. This includes plant microbiome and pathogen surveillance, beneficial plant bacteria, conversion of food waste to biodegradable bioplastics, plastics degradation, and wastewater pathogen surveillance.

Secretary

CBSN has been a game changer, and I want to contribute and give back to the community of Black scientists. I have been a professor in Waterloo Biology for 25 years, following 5 years on faculty at McGill. I served a term as Canadian Society of Microbiologists president, and am currently Director of Waterloo Centre for Microbial Research, Executive Director of LiftOff Black Entrepreneurship Program, and founder of the biotech company Metagenom Bio Life Science Inc. I look forward to the opportunity to serve CBSN as secretary.
