Academic and Programs Subcommittee
Leads CBSN’s scholarly programming, including seminars, panels, and other initiatives that highlight Black excellence in STEMM. The committee also develops academic and professional development opportunities for members across Canada, including those that are featured during the BESTEMM conference.
Conference Organizing Subcommittee
Plans and delivers CBSN’s flagship annual conference and related events. From program design to logistics, this committee ensures CBSN conferences create impactful spaces to showcase research, build networks, and inspire the next generation.
External Relations and Fundraising Subcommittee
Builds and maintains relationships with external partners, sponsors, and allies while leading fundraising initiatives. The committee works to secure resources that sustain CBSN’s programs and expand opportunities for members.
Regional Nodes Subcommittee
Supports CBSN’s regional chapters across Canada by coordinating local programming, fostering grassroots leadership, and ensuring strong connections between regional and national initiatives.
STEM Pathways and Education Subcommittee
Focuses on early STEMM engagement by developing pathways for Black youth from K–12 through postsecondary. The committee also leads the CBSN mentorship and supports inclusive STEMM education initiatives and coordinates programs like the CBSN Science Fair.
Career Development Working Group
Creates resources, workshops, and programming to support the professional growth of CBSN members at all career stages. This group responds to emerging needs in training, and career pathways.
Fundraising Working Group
Supports targeted fundraising campaigns and initiatives. The group works closely with the External Relations & Fundraising Subcommittee to design and execute short-term strategies that expand CBSN’s financial sustainability.
Knowledge Mobilisation Working Group
Develops strategies to translate CBSN’s research, programs, and member expertise into accessible resources for wider audiences. This group ensures CBSN knowledge has impact within academic, policy, and community spaces.
