SUMMARY:CBSN Career Chats: PhD Career Navigation: from Academia to Industry
DESCRIPTION:CBSN Members are invited to join the next Career Chat of 2024 \nWednesday March 13\, 4pm ET \nTopic:\nPhD Career Navigation: from Academia to Industry\nwith Dr Jodi McKenzie\, PhD\nDr Jodi McKenzie is currently a Director of Clinical Development in Clinical Development Oncology at Eisai Inc.\, where she works with cross-functional teams to design\, develop\, and execute global Phase 1-3 clinical trials (eg\, single-arm trials\, randomized-controlled trials). She is also the Indication Lead for Endometrial Cancer and Clinical Lead for a Pediatric Development Program. She has been working at Eisai for just over 5 years during which time she has transitioned from a Senior Clinical Research Scientist to an Associate Director of Clinical Development to her current Director role. Prior to this\, she was a Clinical Research Scientist in the Phase I Clinical Trial Unit at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC)\, where she was involved in the development of clinical trial programs focused on first in man and combination studies of DNA Damage Response and Immuno-oncology agents. As a TRIUMPH (Translational Research in a Multidisciplinary Program) Postdoctoral Fellow at MDACC\, she worked on projects centered on developing combination strategies to improve cancer patient response to immunotherapy. Her research showed that Topoisomerase I inhibitors enhance the efficacy of T cell-based immunotherapy\, by a mechanism dependent on p53 responsive genes. She was also involved in studies that demonstrated the impact of tumor cell signaling pathways\, such as PTEN/PI3K-Akt and Glycolysis\, on immunoresistance in solid tumors. \nPublications: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=Jodi%20McKenzie%20%5BAUTHOR%5D \n  \nPlease contact the CBSN Project Administrator if you are a member looking for the registration link\, or sign into the CBSN ‘connections’ channel on Slack  \nRegister once and we will remind you each month. \nWatch the calendar for future session topic announcements! \n\nSeptember 13.
